BREAKING NEWS: The Red Army Names Arndt Minister of Boom
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE FREE AND INDEPENDENT REPUBLIC OF CARRSYVILLE, Oct. 10, 2009 -- The Red Army today named Comrade General Jared "Arnie" Arndt its Fifth Minister of Boom. Arndt, also known as "Ja'Rod," "Jerome," and "Arnold," is the fifth regular in The Red Army to hold the ceremonial post. He shares the post with Chris "Secret Agent Mav" Boehm (Legion of Merit), the Third Minister of Boom.
Arndt, who as a senior in high school acts as General Secretary of The Red Army Kids Club, now assumes the most visible game-day role in The Red Army. The Minister of Boom commands The Red Army from the opening faceoff to the final buzzer, standing at the center of the formation alongside the Texas Sized Bucket O'Boom, the principal rhythm (if it can be called that) keeper in Section 213. The Minister of Boom calls out the chants and strikes the Bucket O'Boom with a sawed-off hockey stick, an orangutan, or a breakfast cereal.
In a communique from the Ministry of Information, The Red Army praised Arndt's loudness, lack of shame and very general sense of rhythm. "From the time of his conversion from the darkness of Notre Dame fandom, Comrade General Arndt has represented the very best of The Red Army and distinguished himself as a leader of the Glorious Revolution. All hail the Minister of Boom!"
Founded in Section 96 of the Civic Auditorium, The Red Army has defended the Free and Independent (and entirely imaginary) Republic of Carrsyville since Thanksgiving 2002.
Red Army Turns 6!
Happy Birthday Red Army!
Red Army Goes InternationalWebsite stats at the end of November shows that the RA is now international with 2 visits from Canada and 1 from Germany. Le Ölé!
Red Army on Tour - Flop or Fabulous? In an effort to bring our unique brand of spirit to the other side of the arena, the RA went on tour for the Friday game of the MSU series. While not greeted by open arms by the fans, we did get plenty of looks, smiles, and thumbs up from the oppressed fans by the bud bar. We were asked to either produce tickets for seats that weren't even on sale for the game, or go back to our own little corner of the arena. Some would call it a bust. However, I think we brought a little
cheer to the shoot once end of the ice.
